Dog Parks in Vermont

Over four weekends in November and December of 2024, we visited (what I thought was) all of the dog parks in Vermont… I have since discovered there is one additional park to visit (in Ludlow.) The parks in Vermont were (for the most part, and unsurprisingly) bigger than the “standard” park in many other locations.

Just getting to Vermont is a 2-3 hour trip for us, so I started out the door around 4am, with the plan to get to the first park just after dawn. The views during the drive were pretty incredible, and there were some awesome national and state parks to stop at in addition to the dog parks. We encountered two super foggy days (pea soup!) and one snow flurry – but given the time of year, hitting only a flurry is a total win!

The biggest issue was the road closures. If you didn’t know, Vermont has a large number of unpaved roads that head through the various mountainous sections – and many (of not most) of these CLOSE during the winter weather. That, combined with the lack of cell service in many locations made for some interesting navigation. The biggest difficulty was getting from western Vermont BACK into eastern Vermont at the end of the day.

That being said, Vermont definitely had some of the parks with the best VIEWS for the humans to enjoy while the doggos play!

In the map below, the towns with visited parks are marked in yellow. Parks which have not yet been visited are marked in green, and towns which are in the process of building a dog park have been marked in blue.
