Busy times!

Hi everyone!

It’s been a bit since the last post here. We’ve been BUSY!

We took a trip up to northern Maine to visit the dog parks up there (Millinocket, Presque Isle, Caribou, Fort Kent) and since the border is right there, we headed just a bit further north to visit Edmunston, New Brunswick, Canada.

This was Maizey’s first overnight trip.  We stayed at the Fireside Inn & Suites in Waterville, ME and the Best Western Plus in Edmunston, NB. We got both bookings from BringFido.com and both hotels were really very nice. Although we would happily stay at the Fireside Inn & Suites again, the Best Western Plus had two advantages: 1) there was a patio style door leading directly out form the room – especially good for those late night potty breaks. 2) The walls were better sound-proofed, so Maizey was not jumping up at the sound of every person walking down the hallway or in the room next door.

As you might imagine, getting a dog across the border requires some additional paperwork.
To bring a dog into Canada, you will need the dog’s rabies vaccine certificate, the list of all vaccinations, and a letter form a veterinarian stating that they have examined to dog and your dog is disease free and in good health – but this letter is only good for 30 days.
To get back into the US, you must complete the CDC Dog Import Form… and it must be done more than 24 hours ahead of the border crossing. (On completion, you will recieve an email indicating that you completed the form. This is what you will need to show the Customs & Border Patrol officer.

We met a lot of nice people at the hotels, breweries, and dog parks.

We’ve been busy documenting the trips on our Instagram account — Give us a follow to keep track of what we’re doing!

On the website front, I am updating the data in the Dog Park list and I’m working on getting the dog friendly breweries list added into the catalog.
